We often see commercials where a lot of famous athletes are promoting electrolyte pumped-up sports drinks such as Gatorade and Power Ade…but people are only interested in one question, are these types of energy drinks good for your health?
Electrolyte energy drinksare doing more harm than good even though they are able to maintain the body’s balance of electrolytes during or after periods of heavier exercise. However, you should know that when you buy these types of energy drinks, you are practically buying brightly colored sugar water.
It is not healthy to consume processed and refined sweetener (in the case of sports drinks, high-fructose corn syrup). Nobody wants to consume “fake” products even though the artificial flavors and colors do not harm the health of your body.
You should keep in mind that most of the companies that advertise these products are just trying to make you buy their product even though you do not need it. Athletes consume these types of drinks because they have long and hardcore workouts.
However, if you are not a professional athlete and you only have a fifteen minute morning workout routine, we recommend you not to consume them at all because it will not help you at all. You should also know that we have smart bodies since they maintain a balance of electrolytes by staying well hydrated and eating healthy.
You can make your own sports drink if you plan to do a heavier workout. The process is very simple and easy. Besides that, the self-made energy drinks can be really refreshing for your body.

Why do we need electrolytes?
Do you know what are electrolytes and why do we need them? Do you know why they are so important for your body?
There are so many things that I can say about electrolytes but I know that you do not have the time, but if you have, I can send you a copy. The present electrolytes in our bodies are calcium, sodium, potassium, magnesium chloride, hydrogen phosphate (mineral) and hydrogen carbonate (salt).
However, there are many electrolytes out there.
If we do not have electrolytes or if we do not dilute them properly, we will have consequences that are dangerous to our life. The result of these types of problems can be death by “water poisoning”. The nerves and the muscle function, our hydration, the pH of our blood can be regulated with the electrolytes.
Besides that, they are able to rebuild damaged tissue and determinate the blood pressure. For example, you need the electrolyte such as calcium, sodium and potassium if you want the muscles to contract- from your heart to the tiniest toe muscle.
The muscle becomes weak when there is a small amount of electrolytes but on the other hand, when they are too much they over contract.
If you have a balanced diet, you will provide your body with electrolytes. However, you will start to lose electrolytes by sweating during strenuous exercise. When you are ill or pregnant, you need extra means to get electrolytes
. If you want to consume drinks that are rich in electrolytes, we recommen
